TWIN PEAKS IN SAN FRANCISCO
When COVID first hit, this family knew they needed outdoor space for respite and play. We transformed postage-stamp sized front and back yards to be beautiful, low-water, low-maintenance and high use for the family.
The backyard is the treasure for the family. It includes a large Connecticut Bluestone patio for both dining and lounging, custom play structures for their young daugher including a sand box / chalk board and a cedar swing, and a lawn of CA native sod (using ~50% less water than traditional turf, less mowing and minimal organic fertilizer).
A triangular pergola creates more coziness around the lounge area.
Fruit trees and low-maintenance ornamentals surround the area, along with 2 raised vegetable beds.
The front yard is a succulent garden in beautiful multicolor salmon bay pebbles. The color palette is lovely against the pale sage house with a variety of forms, textures and hues.
